a-england Tristam

I have a lot of love for a-england. Their polishes only cost £9 but feel like they're worth so much more than that. I realise that £9 doesn't sound cheap exactly, but think of the likes of Dior, Chanel, YSL etc that charge anywhere between £15-20 for a nail polish. I've not tried polishes from any of those 3 brands so I can't speak to their quality, but a-england's ones are SUCH high quality for £9 that I don't feel the need to try those more expensive brands, you know what I mean? I'm happy to pay £13.50 for an Illamasqua polish because they are astounding quality too, but honestly I think a-england's are even better quality for £4.50 less. Seriously, if you haven't tried a-england, just do it.

Anyway, Tristam is a beautiful indigo holographic. What's not to love? It definitely leans more to the blue side than the purple side of indigo but it's definitely coming off slightly more blue in the photos than it is in person. Whilst I did add a cheeky little coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust on top for a bit of extra sparkle, you can see by looking at the bottle that Tristam is pretty bloody holographic on its own.

Tristam applied absolutely flawlessly - as all my other a-england polishes do - so much so that I don't even need to neaten up the edges with acetone and a brush like I usually do. It's almost opaque in one coat but I prefer to do at least 2 coats of everything for extended wear and what have you. Essentially, it's love and I highly recommend adding it to your stash!

  1. Whilst I love China Glaze Fairy Dust, I'd say Tristam is best left to speak for itself! That polish is in a league of its own.

    1. You definitely should, it's an amazing brand and there's a lot of holos! As well as this one there's Saint George, Princess Sabra, Ascalon, Princess Tears (all of which I have swatches of on here!), Lady of the Lake (which I will be swatching soon!) and Dragon. :-)

  6. This is gorgeous, I have yet to try this brand but I will since I've heard nothing but good things. I have tried nail polishes from Chanel, YSL and Dior and trust me you're really not missing that much. With the exception of YSL's La Laque Couture nail lacquers which are brilliant in both pigmentation and wear time, only downside is they are quite small in size for the price you pay. Dior has gorgeous colours but I find they tend to chip way too quickly, I'm talking same day with a few of them.

    1. Glad to hear I'm not missing out then! I don't see the point in paying prices like that when you can get amazing quality like this for half the price. I think it's time you tried it! :-)

    1. Yeah I got most of mine in sales - I picked up most of the Legend collection in a 30% off sale and I got this one and a few others from the Mythicals collection when they were all £5 :-D

  8. This is beautiful! I had never heard of this brand before. It's funny, because I actually had to mix two colours together to achieve a similar shade to this the other day :')

  10. I remember actually sighing with pleasure when I applied the very first stroke of "Tristam" on my nails. It was absolutely magical! (Maybe I take nail polish much too seriously...?)
